We are so excited to launch the second annual Swim-a-Thon!

When is the Swim-a-Thon? June 21 morning practice time

What will the swimmers do? The Swim-a-Thon is going to be a fun time for the kids! They will swim as many laps as they can, hang out with friends, listen to music and enjoy some treats when done. 

Do the swimmers need to swim a certain number of laps? No, Many swim-a-thons are setup for the swimmers to swim 100 or 200 laps. We will NOT be doing it this way. We want each swimmer to swim as many as they can in their allotted time. If they swim 1 lap, we will celebrate this. If they swim 100, we will celebrate that as well. There is not a minimum number of laps required. 

Is the swim team a for profit organizations? Waterford Stingrays Swim Team is a non-profit 501c3. We rely fully on donations and swim dues to operate. Donations are tax deductible. 

Does the Waterford HOA cover all expenses for the swim team? No the HOA does not cover all. We work closely with the HOA and greatly appreciate a strong partnership. The HOA does support the swim team with a donation that is very helpful, but does not meet all the operating expenses for the team. 

Why are you fundraising? Does the HOA contribution and dues not cover everything? The HOA contribution and the swim dues cover a large portion of the expenses but still does not cover all. We rely on business and personal donations to complete the additional needs. 

What does the swim team want to use the funds for? 

• Operating Expenses - Coaches labor, league fees 
• End of Season Party and Awards - we have always wanted to do more but have been limited due to lack of funds 
• Equipment - Backstroke poles, computers, printers, supplies, etc.
• Fun Practices - Coaches have had some great ideas on things to do for fun practices, we have been limited on what they can do, due to finances. 
• New Wireless Timing System 

Can I donate via check/cash/venmo? 

Do to simplicity, we are asking all donations to go through 99pledges. 

How much of the donations go to 99Pledges? 99Pledges is a free service and does not take any of the funds received. We do have the normal credit card processing fees to cover out of the donations.

• Team that has the highest average donation per swimmer (Total donations/swimmers)

  • Swim and raise $100 or more - above prizes and Stingrays Pop-socket 
  • Swim and raise $250 or more - above prizes and TYR Big Mesh Swim Bag 
  • Swimmer who raises the most - above prizes and Speedo Teamster Swim Backpack or $50 Amazon or Target gift card.
