We are looking forward to kicking off our 2024 season TOMORROW (Friday, May 10th) at the Meet & Greet 5:00-6:30 Waterford Pool!
We are excited to introduce our
2024 Coaching staff:
Abby Smith - Head Coach
Reese Walton - Sr. Assistant Head Coach
Assistant Coaches:
Khloe Katula
Natalie Lowe
Ryan MacReynolds
Emily Reese
Ian Ross
Jack Williams
Dylan Williamson
The Meet & Greet event tomorrow will be a time for kids to get to know the coaches, and hang out with teammates, while parents can learn more about summer swim and find out about our volunteer needs for the season. No swimsuits are needed - there will be no swimming until next week!
Other reminders:
-Registration will close on Friday, May 24. If you haven't registered for the team yet, you still have time! Registering early helps the committee and coaches to properly plan for the season! After team registration closes, we will open the signups for volunteers positions (remember, we're a village and need help from everyone!) and meets.
- Our annual Pup Camp will take place on Wednesday, May 15 and Thursday, May 16 from 5:30-7:00 PM. Pup Camp is designed for swimmers ages 4 and older who are new to the Stingrays. Our coaches will introduce them to basic swim skills, show them what practices will be like, and determine if they are ready for the swim team as they assess their water safety basics and water comfort level.
-Evening practice for all Stingrays will begin Monday, May 20 through Friday, June 7th (We will NOT have practice on Memorial Day!). These practices will have the following schedule:
6&under: 5:30-6:15
7-10 yrs: 5:30-6:30
11&up: 6:35-7:35
-Once WSFCS is out, we will switch to our regular summer schedule with practices shifting to the morning. We will also have a few evening practices each week for kids whose parents work during the day or have other activities going on during the day. That schedule will be finalized after swimmer registration closes and we know the number of kids in each age group!
-Our practice meet will take place on Thursday, May 30, from 5:30-7:30 for our 10 and under swimmers and NEW swimmers. Events offered will be limited as this serves to introduce our younger and new swimmers to what a meet is like, plus it allows the parent volunteers to practice before our first meet which we will be hosting a few days later on Tuesday, June 4th.
Fundraising/sponsorship update:
- Spirit "Day" at East Coast Wings + Grill in Clemmons - On Tuesday, May 14th! We are excited to share ECW is offering 10% of proceeds ALL DAY, 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM, not just dinner hours. Grab some wings for lunch or take the family out for a delicious dinner - either way, the Stingrays will benefit! If you're crunched for time, food can be also ordered on their website and picked up to go (food ordered through Door Dash will not count to the fundraiser).
- We are still in need of more sponsors. Any businesses interested can reach out to Georgia Scott (336-341-8383). Stay tuned as we coordinate more restaurant fundraisers/social events in the coming weeks. It takes a lot of money to successfully run our swim team and to provide the best experience possible for our swimmers!
