WF Stingrays: June 14th Meet Details

Stingray Families -

We are excited to take on the Chadwyck Flyers swim team at HOME tomorrow, June 14th. Make sure your swimmer is well-rested and hydrated tomorrow. We encourage Stingrays to stay home tomorrow afternoon in the AC, rest, watch TV and hydrate - we do NOT want to see you at the pool all day in the hot sun!

Please read through this information below to get ready for tomorrow:

HEAT PLAN: We know it will be very hot and have been making plans today to keep everyone as comfortable as possible. We will have corded fans, free iced water stations, 3 cool misting areas, and will be combining events whenever possible on the heat sheet so we can speed up the timing. We will also be taking a 10 MINUTE POOL DIP halfway into the meet (after Event #42). At that time, ANYONE can get in the water (wearing clothes or a bathing suit - you choose!) We hope this will help all of us beat the heat!

LOCATION: OUR POOL

PARKING: See the attached parking map below. There will be a LOT of cars...the more you can carpool, do it! The pool management asks that we use the grassy area for parking and then overflow to the North side of Slane Rd (opposite of the pool gravel parking lot—the side without traffic cones) or the East side of Glengarriff Rd (noted on the attached parking map). We will have parking attendants present to help keep the traffic flowing and the parking organized as both of our teams are large. There is a damn close to the pond and the parking attendants will be directing people to avoid that area. We ask that if parking on the side of Slane or Glengarriff Roads to please be conscientious of the Homeowners’ yards. Parking map is attached to share with your team to illustrate the parking flow. BE SMART - DO NOT PARK IN FRONT OF STOP SIGNS AND DO NOT BLOCK INTERSECTIONS, PARTICULARLY ON SLANE COURT. WE HAVE NEIGHBORS WHO CALL THE POLICE IF THIS HAPPENS!

TIMING: Pool closes at 3pm; Coaches & sounds system setup after. Team arrival anytime 4pm or after. (NO EARLIER THAN 4PM)

  • Waterford team warm up @ 4:45-5:05pm
  • Timers/officials meeting @ 5:15 PM (for ALL stroke & turn judges and timers, both halves - MEET OUTSIDE THE BACK GATE NEAR THE HILL)
  • Meet starts promptly @ 5:30 PM
  • Meet ends 9:00-9:30pm (estimated)
  • After-meet dinner at DairiO Clemmons

WHERE TO SET-UP: The "Home side" is on the side closest to the baby pool and covered shelter. We encourage you to BRING CHAIRS & TENTS. It will be HOT and we can use all the shade we can get! We would love to make a tent village so we can shade as much of the deck as possible. ***You are welcome to DROP OFF YOUR TENT BY 3PM at the pool for coaches to setup early - make sure to label with your name***

VOLUNTEERS: If you volunteered to help with the meet, please make sure you check-in with Becky McKinnon at the Waterford Volunteer table by 5:15pm - FOR BOTH HALVES, CHECK-IN BY 5:15pm. She will have your Volunteer badge and all the supplies you need!

CONCESSIONS: Sunset Slush will be available and will set up outside the gate by the diving boards (they will be in the grassy area by the back gate). Sunset Slush requires CASH!! We will also be selling 2 pieces of pizza + drink combo for $5, waters, gatorades, and sodas. Cash or Credit Card.

WHAT TO WEAR: Swimmers should wear a black one-piece suit with their team shirt. We also just received our second order of TEAL swim caps ($12 each or 2/$20). If you ordered a cap and don't have it yet, make sure you pick yours up! We encourage goggles and Waterford swim caps - please do not wear a Tyde or Enfinity or any year-round swim team cap. This summer, we are all Waterford!! Parents are encouraged to wear team colors - dark blue and teal - and/or Stingray gear!

WHAT TO BRING: Coolers are welcome! Pack lots of water and low-calorie sports drinks for your swimmer(s). Snacks and any food items you want to bring, go for it! You will be amazed at how many snacks these swimmers can eat in one meet!! Cards, UNO, or small board games that swimmers can play with friends are also encouraged. Meets are LONG...it helps to have things to pass the time! Due to the heat, consider bringing portable fans, spray bottles with fan attachments, cooling towels - even wet towels in the freezer works!

HEAT SHEET: Will be emailed as soon as it is ready. MAKE SURE TO LOOK FOR THE HEAT SHEET AND PLAN TO PRINT & BRING WITH YOU!

GO STINGRAYS!
